Hi Durango Community,
My twin sister, fur kid and I have downsized our belongings and we are consciously looking to live smaller and simpler this summer.
We are looking to rent a room or a tiny house on wheels in Durango starting mid-April. We will be traveling to Durango from our current location in Tucson, AZ. The summers here are quite brutal, so we are excited to head to cooler weather.
Our goal is to connect with like-minded folks in the Durango area. We value simple, sustainable and conscious living. We are moving to Durango with the intention of connecting with some tiny home builders. We are looking to build a tiny home on wheels in the near future so that we can exit the rent cycle and have a home to call our own. We'd like to connect with this community once we arrive in Durango.
We are quiet, considerate and happy folks, looking to have a summer adventure of living more simply. We both work virtually (teaching English and nutritional coaching). We are clean, super organized and simple. We are minimalists and all of our belongings fit in our Subaru! We believe in treading as lightly on the land/environment as possible. You might see your utility bills go down with us around. :)
In Tucson, we have a local community garden and we attend our local farmers market, weekly. We'd like to connect with these same philosophies in the Durango area.
We are both recovering from Chronic Lyme Disease. A plant-based diet and juicing has really given us a new lease on life. We are continuing to heal, thus need to balance work and rest. We are not looking to get into the cycle of working an outrageous schedule in order to pay for our housing. We've already done that and it causes tremendous setbacks. We are on a relatively fixed income as we recover. My sister is on disability and we both work part-time. Please reach out only if you have an affordable option available. We've noticed that some of these tiny living situations have become niche luxury accommodations with outrageous price tags.
We are looking for:
- Our ideal situation would be to rent from someone looking to make some supplemental income who has a tiny living set-up that is not actively being used.
- A structure with a healthy environment (NO mold, water damage, toxic cleaning chemicals recently used or toxic lawn chemicals being used nearby (roundup, etc). We value our health and that of the environment!
- A structure welcoming of a well-trained 38 lb, 9-year-old dog.
- A WiFi connection so that we can continue our virtual work!
What we can offer in rent would depend on the size, setup and location of the structure. We do want to keep costs in mind (as one of the motivations for downsizing is to spend less in rent).
If there are opportunities to lower rent in exchange for bartering services or doing a work-share, please do reach out! Some skills we can offer are elderly companionship, house sitting/ property care taking, child care, animal care, reiki, ESL instruction and tidying (we love organizing!)
If you have any needs, suggestions, etc, please do present them and I'm sure we can work something out! We are excited to be creative!
We look forward to hearing from you!
