The Chinese goose is an elegant, swan-like breed known for its upright posture, long neck, and prominent head knob, descended from the wild Swan Goose of Asia. They are excellent foragers, prolific egg layers (often considered the best), and make great "watch dogs" due to their loud, alert nature, making them popular for homesteads. Available in brown and white varieties, they are light-bodied, active, and have a reputation for being noisy but useful.
Key Characteristics
Appearance: Graceful, swan-like with a long, slender neck and a large, rounded knob on the forehead.

Size: Light breed; mature ganders average 12 lbs, geese 10 lbs (Brown) or 10-15 lbs (White).
Temperament: Active, vocal, and alert, making them excellent guard animals.
Uses: Excellent weeders (called "Weeder Geese"), good egg layers, and guard animals.
Behavior & Traits
