While in electronics school, a family member built two battery boxes for me. I have used these a few times on camping trips and they work great. They are perfect for emergency and/or general backup power for charging or running your small electronics. New components were used throughout. The battery is less than a year old, and I've been keeping it topped off with a Battery Tender charger. This design has two screw terminals on top, an illuminated power switch and a 12v cigarette lighter adapter. It also includes a lighted voltmeter to monitor battery voltage and has fuse protection. Recharging is done by way of the screw terminals on top. I am including two USB chargers that plug in the lighter adapter. One is a flush-mount that has two, 1A USB ports. The other is an extended 2-port (1A and 2.1A). The battery is a SLA, maintenance-free Mighty Max #ML 18-12 that currently sells for $38 on Amazon (specs in photos).
