Junior Controls Engineer

Under the supervision of the Senior Electrical Controls Engineer, The Junior Controls Engineer performs a variety of tasks including programming electro-mechanical machines, testing and troubleshooting the software and electrical hardware for electro-mechanical machines, assisting tech support in troubleshooting machines in the field, coordinating with electrical component vendors to update and maintain electrical designs, and develop and maintain machine documentation related to the software and electrical hardware.

Responsibilities

With instruction and pre-established guidelines, design, develop, and supervise all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery.
PLC, HMI, relay logic programming
Collaborate closely with other engineering team members to coordinate electrical, controls, and project layout requirements.
Assist with new product assembly, testing, and validation.
Communicate with Production Managers, Project Managers, and other engineers to establish a timeline for controls development and testing.
Vendor Coordination
Identify vendors and communicate design requirements to establish the supply chain for new product components.
Work with current vendors to procure custom designed electrical components.
Technical Support
Support our Technical Support Group with any troubleshooting of issues in the field that go above and beyond the typical technical support scope.
Documentation Development and Maintenance
Develop and maintain product related documentation including the Bill of Materials, Assembly Drawings, and Schematics.
Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Interest and experience in computer programming. Siemens and/or Allen Bradley experience preferred.
0-2 years of professional experience in automation, control system design, PLC/HMI programming or related fields.
Knowledge of electrical and controls engineering commonly-used concepts, acceptable practices, standards, and codes.
Strong troubleshooting skills. Ability to logically work through an issue to determine the root cause and make recommendations on possible solutions.
Excellent communication skills
Ability to travel on site to assist with installation and commissioning on integration projects.
